Abstract

The method involves describing a virtual underwater world in terms of its acoustic characteristics in the form of polygons. Based on the position and orientation of a receiving antenna (10) in the sea, a section of the underwater world is determined which corresponds to the space segment detected by the antenna. A number of sound beams (30) are defined in angle coordinates, and for each polygon impinged on by the beams, a diffuse intensity and a distance from the receiving antenna are determined.
