Abstract

Oppfinnelsen omhandler en metode og et system for presentering av fjerntliggende og lokal informasjon i det samme brukergrensesnittet ved hjelp av en web browser. Dette oppnås ved å la web browserens motor (250) kommunisere med en tilleggs ECMAScript-modul (280) som har blitt designet for browseren, og som tillater at JavaScript-miljøet blir utvidet med nye klasser og metoder implementert i innretningens egen kode. Modulen (280) kan bli betinget kompillert i en utgave av en web browser på potensielt enhver software-plattform. Når en utgave av en web browser har blitt laget med JavaScript-utvidelsesfunksjonaliteten tilgjengeliggjort, kan JavaScript-miljøet bli utvidet ved å plassere et spesielt skrevet bibliotek (270) i en spesifikt katalog på den elektroniske innretningen sammen med en adgangsinitialiseringsfil (260) som spesifiserer hvilke websider som skal ha tilgang til utvidelsene.
