Abstract

Et oljefeltdataanalysesystem er basert på en firelags programvaremodell som omfatter en "delt jordmodell" og en sammenslutning av "katalogtjenester". Det første laget er et universelt grafisk brukergrensesnitt (GUI) som kan operere på enhver billig datamaskin (12) så vel som på en dyr arbeidsstasjon (14), dvs. en "webleser". Det andre laget er en applikasjonsserver (18) som er koblet til brukere via world wide web og som betjener geovitenskapelige programvareapplikasjoner. Det tredje laget er et geometrisk modelleringssystem (20) hvor geometriske data blir lagret og prosessert. Det tredje laget utgjør den "delte jordmodellen". Det fjerde laget er et databasehåndteringssystem (22) hvor ikke-geometriske data lagres. I henhold til oppfinnelsen kan det være (og fortrinnsvis er) flere tilfeller av hvert lag. Kommunikasjon av data mellom forskjellige lag utføres via XML-datautveksling. I henhold til en foreliggende foretrukket utførelse, blir de geovitenskapelige applikasjonene betjent av det andre laget skrevet som JAVA servlets og applikasjoner kan kommunisere med hverandre uten menneskelige retningslinjer ved å registrere forespørsler hos "katalogtjenester".
