Abstract

Fremgangsmåten er spesielt egnet for å identifisere hydrokarbonreservoar-grenserfor bruk ved tredimensjonal "delt jord"- reservoarmodellering.One method of identifying geologic subsurface features using seismic data includes the steps of dividing a subsurface area into a plurality of discrete cells, associating the cells with seismic data mapping subsurface areas represented by the cells; determining structural characteristics of a number of the cells; and to group adjacent cells together based on the structural characteristics to identify the geological subsurface. The grouped cells may also conveniently be pooled and / or vectorized. The method is capable of identifying seismic reflector surfaces, fault surfaces and other types of geological subsurface features. The method is particularly suitable for identifying hydrocarbon reservoir limits for use in three-dimensional "split soil" reservoir modeling.
