Accordingly, after inserting the implant member into a correspondingly sized receiving space formed within adjacent vertebrae, the retaining surface facilitates secure retention therein by corresponding engagement with surfaces in the receiving space. A method of fusion of adjacent vertebrae using the prosthesis is also disclosed.
