Description
The present invention relates to a pipe connection for a fixed or mountable connection to the casing surface of an electrical installation box.
Boxes of this type are used when installing electrical cables in homes, offices etc. The installation is most often carried out as a so-called hidden installation, i.e. the cables are pulled into pipes inside the walls. Connection between the different cables takes place in circular boxes which are also located inside the walls, but accessible by protruding through holes in the wall surfaces and with their opening lying flush with the finished wall. Installation of circuit breakers, wall sockets and similar electrical devices also takes place in boxes of the above type.
The installation pipes are connected to the box via pipe fittings, which can be permanently connected to or can be mounted on the box's mantle surface and are aligned in the plane of the wall surface. An example of boxes of this kind is shown in the Swedish design registration 15446.
During installation, both boxes and pipes are often anchored to studs in the wall. This can lead to tension depending on whether the fitter, due to time constraints, does not always manage to ensure that the connections between the pipes and the fittings are correct. This problem is particularly pronounced if the pipe and box are attached to the same stand, as the spigot usually directed radially outward from the box will then be some distance from the stand, while the pipe lies next to it. These stresses can then cause the box to crack or the plug to loosen from the box.
According to the invention, the above-mentioned voltage problem is solved with a device of the kind specified in the subsequent patent claims.
The invention shall be described in more detail in the following with reference to the drawing, where
figur 1 viser rørstussen i perspektiv, og figure 1 shows the pipe connection in perspective, and
figur 2 viser rørstussen i lengdesnitt. figure 2 shows the pipe spigot in longitudinal section.
In the drawings, 1 denotes a section of a box wall, 2 a pipe connection consisting of a rigid 3 and a flexible part 4.
The part denoted by 1 is either the box wall itself, or a demountable part of the box wall of the kind described in Norwegian patent no. 167,345.
The pipe spigot 2, which normally extends straight out from the box wall, has an outer part 3 designed in the usual way and is arranged to be connected to a conduit pipe, which is inserted a bit into the part 3. The inner part 4, on the other hand, is designed to be flexible, so that the entire spigot can be bent 90° or more. In this way, the end part of the spigot can be given a largely optional direction so that the connection with the conduit is facilitated and the previously mentioned stresses are avoided.
The flexible part 4 of the spigot is suitably made of the same material as the rest of the spigot, whereby the flexibility is provided by providing the part with a helical weakening, alternatively a number of ring-shaped weakenings. The length of the helical weakening resp. the length of the section with ring-shaped weakenings is determined by how much flexibility is desired. As there is a requirement that the part of the spigot 3 into which the insulating pipe is to be inserted must have a certain length, the total length of the spigot will be somewhat longer than the standard spigot.
With the help of the invention, an opportunity is thus achieved to fasten boxes and pipes in the desired way without the risk of built-in tensions in the system which could cause cracks in the boxes or cause the pipe joints to come loose. In addition, the invention means that assembly can be done both easily and quickly.
According to a special embodiment of the invention, the entire spigot can be designed in flexible material. However, safety regulations may mean that this is not permitted.
