Description

Anvendelse av aktivanoder av lanthan- og ceriumholdige sinklegeringer til katodisk korrosjonsbeskyttelse.
Det er kjent at stålkonstruksjoner sær-lig er utsatt for et korrosjonsangrep når
de befinner seg i aggressive omgivelser
(f. eks. jordbunn, havvann og lignende).
Til forhindring av denne korrosjon har
man i lengere tid anvendt aktivanoder,
som fortrinnsvis og overveiende består av
magnesium, aluminium eller sink. Disse
anoder er under hensyntagen til det gjen-sidige overflateforhold forbundet til kort-slutning med de jernkonstruksjoner som
skal beskyttes. Som kjent inntreffer det
under strømavgivelsen en konsentrasjons-polarisasjon av anodeoverflaten som ved
overgang til en overtrekkspolarisasjon, bevirker en større eller mindre forminskelse
av anodenes yteevne. Til forhindring av
denne inaktivering tillegeres visse kom-ponenter, f. eks. aluminium, kadmium eller
kvikksølv til sinken.
Tross eller tid dels også på grunn av
denne aktivering kan det på aktivanode-nes overflate ved omsetning med bestand-deler i de korrosive omgivelser, f. eks. havvann, dannes reaksjonsprodukter, som i
form av fastheftende skorper mekanisk
dekker anodeoverflaten. Et slikt sement-aktig lag består eksempelvis ved anvendelse av sinkanoder i havvann, av forbin-delser av sink med kompleksdannere fra
saltene i havvannet.
Det har vist seg at sink med en renhetsgrad på 99,999 pst. ned til teknisk sink
med en renhetsgrad på 98,5 pst. blir meget
sterkt aktivert ved tilsetning av lanthan og cerium, som derved gjensidig kan erstat-te hverandre. En slik anode bevirker såvel en virksom nedsettelse av polarisasjons-som av overtrekkseffekten og dermed en forholdsvis høy konstantholdelse av anode-overflatens aktivitet. En tydelig virkning inntreffer allerede ved tillegering av 0,02 pst. lanthan. En økning ut over 5 pst. med-fører ikke noen tilsvarende forbedring av virkningen.
Det har videre vist seg at den samme virkning inntreffer, når det i stedet for lanthan anvendes legeringer hvori lantha-net delvis er erstattet med cerium. En slik legering er f. eks. det såkalte «mischmetall», som består av ca. 35 pst. lanthan, 15 pst. neodym og praseodym og 50 pst. cerium. Ved langvarige, sammenlignende for-søk og målinger av «mischmetall»-legerte anoder av finsink og teknisk sink på den ene side og ikke-legerte sinkanoder på den annen side, ble det vist at de «mischmetall»-legerte anoder, i motsetning til de ikke-legerte sinkanoder, såvel under en uavbrutt som en intermitterende drift over et lengere tidsrom i syntetisk havvann ikke viser noe nevneverdig spenningsfall og bibeholder et til belastningen svarende nesten uforanderlig drivpotensial.
Denne yteevne- og potensialkonstans beror på at disse anoders overflate ikke overtrekkes med det innledningsvis be-skrevne fastvedheftende, sementaktige lag, men at det på anodene kun oppstår en
tynn, sprø, av seg selv avfallende eller med
vann lett avspylbar, blandet film, slik at
den yteevnebestemmende kontakt mellom
det blanke anodemetall og den omgivende
elektrolytt stadig blir opprettholdt.

Claims (1)

1. Anvendelse av en sinklegering som
foruten sink inneholder 0,02—5,0 pst. lant-
han, hvorav inntil 50 pst; eventuelt er erstattet med cerium, som anodemateriale til katodisk korrosjonsbeskyttelse.
2, Anvendelse av en sinklegering ifølge påstand 1, som foruten sink inneholder 0,05—5,0 pst. «mischmetall», som anodemateriale for katodisk kororsjons-:beskyttelse.
