Description
Oppfinnelsen angår blandinger til å fremme biologisk fjernelse av avfallsstoffer, særlig hydrokarboner.
Fjernelsen av forurensende industrielle avfall og særlig hydrokarboner har vært gjenstand for omfattende forskning, idet man har søkt å påskynde avfallenes biologiske nedbrytning under unngåelse av plagsom forgjæring.
Der har vært foreslått forskjellige metoder og blandinger
som alle har sine ulemper:
Dispérgerings- og emulgeringsmidler fortynner hydrokarbonene, noe som kan medføre alvorlige forstyrrelser for den biologiske likevekt-,
tyngende produkter slår ned hydrokarbonene på bunnene under dannelse av agglomerater som bare meget langsomt nedbrytes av mikroorganismer, og dessuten skjer denne spaltning med anaerobe organismer som kan frigjøre stoffer som er giftige for flora og fauna.
Por å påskynde den biologiske nedbrytning av avfallene og samtidig unngå ulempene ved de hittil kjente blandinger gir oppfinnelsen anvisning på blandinger som inneholder en absorberende mineralsubstans valgt fra gruppen som omfatter kalsiumkarbonat, surt metasilikat av magnesium og infusoriejord, og 10-^0 vektprosent av et oksygenavgivende metalloksyd og/eller alkalimetall-peroksyd.
Fra US-PS 3 152 983 er der kjent en fremgangsmåte som har
til oppgave å ødelegge hydrokarbonavfall ved å behandle det med en mikrobe-kultur eller slam anriket med mikrober som er aktive overfor hydrokarboner. Den resulterende blanding holdes i kontakt med gassformet luft eller oksygen, samtidig som der sørges for en moderat omrøring ved luftning. Fremgangsmåten ifølge patentskriftet er
imidlertid uanvendelig utenfor et spesielt kar, mens den foreliggende oppfinnelse kan anvendes på oljesøl som flyter på en hav-overflate .
Anvendelsen av oksygen-avgivende metalloksyd som foreslått
i henhold til den foreliggende oppfinnelse byr på fordeler fremfor anvendelsen av luft, da det ved den spesielle bruk man tar sikte på, er umulig å bruke luft eller oksygen.
Oppfinnelsen utgjør således en forbedring fremfor den tidligere teknikk hvor der benyttes tynge-stoffer til å felle ut hydrokarbonavfall og andre forurensende avfall på bunnen av en vannmasse. Som forklart tidligere gir denne kjente teknikk opphav til agglomerater som bare blir meget langsomt ødelagt ved virkningen av mikro-organismer som kan frigjøre stoffer som er giftige overfor forskjellige former for flora og fauna. Å behandle disse agglomerater med luft lar seg ikke gjøre. Således går den foreliggende oppfinnelse, som ikke gjør bruk av noen mikrobe-kultur, ut på å tilsette de kjente tynge-stoffer, som er kalsiumkarbonat, talkum, naturlig kullsyre og infusoriejord, en oksygenavgivende forbindelse som i agglomeratet av tynge-middel og avfall skaffer det oksygen som skal til for aerob nedbrytning av avfallet.
Metalloksydet kan være jernoksyd, magnesiumdioksyd eller sinkoksyd.
Det således tilveiebragte oksygentilskudd muliggjør en an-aerob gjæring som er klart gunstigere for den biologiske nedbrytning og helt fri for sjenerende stank.
Det oksydavgivende middel blir rett og slett blandet med en bærer som utelukkende avhenger av pH-verdien av avfallene som skal fjernes.
I tilfelle av sure avfall blir det oksygenavgivende middel blandet med naturlig eller felt kalsiumkarbonat.
Por basiske avfall utgjøres den benyttede bærer av et surt salt, f.eks. surt metasilikat av magnesium, eller talkum.
Sluttelig vil man i tilfelle av nøytrale avfall eller hvis det av vilkårlige grunner er å foretrekke ikke å forandre den opp-rinnelige pH-verdi, benytte en nøytral bærer, f.eks. naturlig kieselsyre eller infusoriejord.
Når avfallene er flytende, er det dessuten gunstig om blandingene er absorberende.
Por hydrokarbonavfall kan absorbsjonen påskyndes ved tilføy-else av en andel av 5-15% av et oleofilt stoff, f.eks. en fettsyre (stearin-, palmitin-, adipin- eller oljesyre).
For påskyndelse av den biologiske nedbrytningsprosess gir oppfinnelsen dessuten anvisning på tilsetning av en andel av 10-30 vektprosent av en næringssubstans som er gunstig for utviklingen av mikroorganismer ved å gi tilskudd av næringsstoffer såvel som av oljeholdige vekststoffer. Disse substanser kan f.eks. være maisolje, malteriresiduer, melasser etc.
Sluttelig er det for fremme av nedbrytningen i tilfelle av hydrokarboner gunstig å tilsette 2-10 vektprosent av et nitrogenholdig stoff. Dette tilskudd kan f.eks. tilveiebringes ved tilsetning av urea eller også av ammoniumfosfat, -nitrat eller -sulfat.
De følgende sammensetninger angis eksempelvis og er på ingen måte å anse som begrensende for oppfinnelsen.
For sure avfall:
For nøytrale avfall:
9 - 16) Blandinger som fås ved at kalsiumkarbonat eller talkum i eksemplene 1-8 erstattes med naturlig kieselsyre. Som nevnt oven-for, kan alle blandingene få tilsetninger av 10-30?» av en nær ing s-substans og/eller - når det gjelder hydrokarbonavfall - av 1-5%«av en oleofil substans. Således ble f.eks.
A 50 liter avvann fra papirfabrikk behandlet med 10 kg av den følgende blanding:
Etter 30 dager var nedbrytningen fullstendig uten at der hadde utviklet seg noen sjenerende forgjæring.
B 100 g råpetroleum utbredt på bad-overflaten i et kar med
10 liter sjøvann ble absorbert og bunnfelt ved påfylling av 100 g av følgende blanding:
Etter 10 deler var der ikke lenger igjen noen lukt av hydro-karbon, og der hadde heller ikke utviklet seg noen sjenerende stank.
C 500 g lett brenselolje utbredt på et sementgulv ble absorbert med 500 g av den følgende blanding:
Brenselet ble fullstendig absorbert, og en enkel feining levnet gulvet rent. Brenselet med tilført blanding ble oppsamlet og helt opp i 20 liter bløtt vann. Etter 12 dager fantes der ikke noen lukt av brensel, og der hadde ikke utviklet seg noen plagsom forgjæring.
Claims (4)
1. Blanding til å fremme biologisk fjernelse av avfallsstoffer, særlig hydrokarboner, karakterisert ved at den inneholder en absorberende mineralsubstans valgt fra gruppen som omfatter kalsiumkarbonat, surt metasilikat av magnesium og infusoriejord, og 10-^0 vektprosent av et oksygenavgivende metalloksyd og/eller alkalimetall-peroksyd.
2. Blanding som angitt i krav 1, karakterisert ved at den ytterligere inneholder 10-30 vektprosent av en næringssubstans som er egnet til å fremme veksten av mikroorganismer og er valgt fra den gruppe som omfatter maisolje, maltekstrakt, malteriresiduer, melasser og blandinger herav.
3. Blanding som angitt i krav 1 eller 2, karakterisert ved at den ytterligere inneholder 2-10 vektprosent av et nitrogenholdig stoff valgt fra den gruppe som omfatter urea, ammoniumfosfat, ammoniumnitrat og ammoniumsulfat.
4. Blanding som angitt i krav 1, 2 eller 3,karakterisert ved at den ytterligere inneholder fra 5 til 15 vektprosent fettsyre.
