Abstract

The invention relates to a device for reading information carriers, for example tags or injectates. The device consists of an antenna (aerial) which by means of a cable is connected to a feed station and an information carrier which is attached to each small domestic animal and can contain a unique code. An information carrier present in the interrogation field (scanned field) is read out by the antenna in a contact-free manner, the antenna relaying the information thus obtained to a read station where the data are processed and recorded. The antenna in this design is attached in such a way to the hand or arm of a person, for example to the back of the hand, that the person in question has both hands free for action, for example to pick up the animal to be identified. The antenna can also be fitted within a glove.
