Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for the reuse of material obtained by milling asphalt off a road surface.
Dergelijke werkwijze is bekend. Such a method is known. The material thus milled away is added to newly prepared asphalt. Although this known method leads to a useful use of the milled-away material, the problem arises that only a certain amount of milled-away material can be added to new asphalt in order not to adversely affect the properties of the asphalt.
However, the amount of asphalt milled away continues to increase, while the amount of asphalt to be applied remains the same or even decreases. This results in a surplus of milled away material, which cannot be used usefully in the asphalt industry.
The object of the present invention is to provide a method which leads to a useful reuse of the surplus of milled-away material.
This object is achieved in that the material is added to concrete mortar as aggregate or as filler.
It has been found that the material can serve very well as aggregate or filler in concrete mortar.
Since the milled-away material is formed by granular bodies, such as gravel, crushed stone and sand, which are joined together by a tar-like substance, the fear arises that the adhesion between the concrete mortar and the bodies surrounded by a layer of tar-like material will not be optimal.
Due to the milling away, the layer of tar-like material around the bodies is locally interrupted, so that a good adhesion between the concrete mortar and the granular bodies can indeed be obtained. It should be noted, however, that it is preferable to use the concrete mortar for the manufacture of concrete products, which do not impose too high demands on the structural strengths.
This includes the use of the concrete mortar according to the invention for the production of concrete clinkers, concrete tiles, concrete sewer pipes, concrete for work floors, stamped concrete and filler concrete.
2 afgeheelde produkt. The present invention will be elucidated hereinbelow with reference to the annexed drawings, in which: fig. 1 shows a schematic representation of the method according to the present invention; Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a product according to the present invention; FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view of a portion of the product shown in FIG. 2; and FIG. 4 is a detailed sectional view of the product stocked in FIG. 2.
In fig. Fig. 1 shows a road surface 1, part 2 of which is processed by means of a milling machine 3.
The milling machine 3 removes the top layer of the piece of road surface 2, so that a new layer of asphalt can then be applied without causing an increase. Such milling machines 3 are well known in the art. The material milled away from the milling machine 3 is subsequently removed by means of a conveyor belt 4 attached to the milling machine.
According to the prior art, the milled-off material is added to base material for the preparation of new asphalt.
2 is weergegeven.According to the present invention, the milled-out material is added as filler material to concrete mortar. For this purpose use is made of a concrete mixer 7, to which sand and possibly gravel are also added, as indicated by 8. Of course cement powder 9 and water are also added. After being left in the concrete mixer for a long time, a mortar is formed, which is poured into a form 11 via the gutter 10. To obtain good compaction of the material, as shown with an arrow cross 12, the mold is moved back and forth in two horizontal directions. After the required curing time has elapsed, the mold is divided, and a finished product is taken out, in this case a concrete clinker brick, as shown in Fig. 2.
Due to the presence of the milled-away material, the appearance of such a concrete clinker brick will be darker than that of normal concrete hitherto known. This is no problem for most applications. It is also possible to paint the products, if desired.
In fig. Hierbij is zichtbaar, hoe kernen hard materiaal 14, bijvoorbeeld grint, steenslag of zand, omgeven worden door een laag teerachtig materiaal 15.Fig. 3 shows the structure of the mixture. It can be seen how cores of hard material 14, for example gravel, crushed stone or sand, are surrounded by a layer of tar-like material 15.
In fig. Fig. 4 shows how this layer of tar-like material 15 is locally interrupted, so that the matrix-forming mortar 16 maintains good contact with the core hard material. It is assumed here that the layer of tar-like material is locally interrupted by the milling process. This can possibly be reinforced by a separate processing of the material.
