Abstract

The wind turbine has two wind vanes (1) between which cylindrical rods rotate horizontally and move eccentrically in parallel w.r.t. each other. Both the inner and outer sets of rods (2,3) are joined together by flexible curved sails (4). The largest set of rods has toothed gear wheels at both ends clamped between the vanes. Twisting of the rods is prevented by the wheels on an imaginary intermediate parallel axis. Direct electrical power can be generated from this when used as a rotor shaft. The assembly is orientated w.r.t. the wind direction by the vanes and cowling (5,6) above and below the cylinder control the radial turbine position. The turbine speed is thus varied by changing the wind attack angle and is stabilised by an inertia mass.
