Abstract

The annular sealing component is of elastic material with a stiffening ring, being for use with a pipe coupling where a pipe end fits in an internal groove in a socket, the component being accommodated at least partly in the groove. The stiffening ring (4) is so accommodated in the component (1) that part of it (5, 6) is accessible from the outside, thus allowing the component to be properly positioned without the risk of distortion on assembly. The stiffening ring can form part of a disc with openings in it, extending inside the component.
