Abstract

The system assembles newspapers, periodicals etc., typically after folding, and delivers them into a box where they are assembled into a stack of predetermined height and tied. Each string(10, 11) is previously detachably positioned in recesses in the base(13) and rear wall(5) of the box, eyes being formed(15) on one end of each string, so that they protrude from the box above and below the stack. The other ends are then passed through the eyes and knotted, bringing the finished knots onto the top of the stack.
