Abstract

The collapsible workbench has a table leaf in two parts, each fixed to two supporting beams, protruding to one side where they hinge on the top ends of four legs, which hinge apart in p airs about a spindle. Thus when folded together the four legs lie in one plane with the leaf parts hanging down on opposite sides on the beams. When unfolded, downwards forces try to hinge the legs apart, generating a clamping force between the leaf parts to hold a workpiece. The position of the leaf parts can be fixed, and the lower ends of the legs can be radiused.
