Abstract

The reel for recording films or magnetic tape is of the type which does not require rewinding on reaching the end. The tape can be removed from the inside through a hole near the hub of the reel. The reel consists of two flanges which can be moved relative to each other within certain limits. The distance between the inside of the flanges is slightly greater than the width of the tape. The tape guiding element (27) can be adjusted relative to one of the flanges between an operating position and a neutral position. This is done when the flanges (11, 12) are adjusted in the feed position relative to each other. The guide mechanism is pulled back such that the entire support surface will be free for direct contact with the tape.
