Abstract

The monitoring system is intended to observe any changes in the condition of a number of objects. Each object operates in conjunction with a fault indicator which is linked to a central monitoring unit via a two-wire cable. The latter is common to all the objects being monitored. The system can be applied as an alarm against burglary or as a control of the liquid level in a container. The central monitoring unit (1) can be installed in a separate building and linked to the fault indicators via the common cable. Each fault indicator has a circuit (6) which draws a constant current from the central control. The fault indicator circuits incorporate sensing elements (38) which interrupt the flow of current to all the other fault indicators when there is a change of state in one of the indicators. The total current supplied is measured in the central control.
