Abstract

The machine assembles a number of straight round items such as bars or pipes all of the same diameter into a hexagonal bundle. It has ramp along which the items are delivered one by one so that they roll in a complete row into a vertical slot (12), widening towards the bottom. Equidistant from the slot mouth on opposite sides are two vertical restrictors (13, 14) on a V-shaped supporting structure, whose arms (17, 18) include between them an angle of 120 deg., and which is movable up and down. A symmetrical roof structure (15, 16) of inverted-V shape is mounted either side of the slot mouth. The slot itself can be shaped to that the bars of pipes lie alternately on opposite sides of the vertical centre line of the hexagon.
