Abstract

The feeding system provides a series of feeding points for animals, especially cattle, and supplies liquid foodstuff containing chemical nutrients. The main reservoir is in the form of a tank (19) with water inlet pipe and a float valve level control. The tank outlet is connected with a horizontal duct (20) which has a series of T-junctions each leading upwards to a bowl-shaped "lick-pot" (21). Each pot has the common liquid level below its rim and slightly above the centre of a floating ball retained in the pot. Each animal feeds from one position along the line by licking the ball, and this causes it to rotate and carry the foodstuff from the pipe below.
