Abstract
The light emitting diode to be fastened to a flexible strip cable has electrodes on opposite sides. The cable has a flexible insulating substrate with metal conductors on one side. Openings of smaller width than the diode (26) are formed in one metal conductor (14) and the cable substrate. The diode is inserted into the opening in such manner that the metal conductor engages the opposite sides of the diode in a holding manner for electric connection to the electrodes. After inserting the diode is preferably cast in a transparent medium (32). The light emitting edge of the diode interface is secured in a slot at right angles to the substrate, thus providing good light emission without darkening by the conductors of securing material.
