Abstract

The end frame (16, 16b) is joined to the conveyor (10) by pivot (18, 22). A side plate (14) on the conveyor provides a location (34) for one end of a long tension spring (33), the other end (31) being held in a block (32) fixed inside the end frame. In the folded down position, this spring is extended, due to eccentricity between pivot pin and spring mountings. When the end frame swings upwards, the top spring mounting in the block moves into line with the pivot. This shortens the distance between them and the spring contracts the energy expended reduces the effort required for raising the frame.
