Abstract

A non-destructive testing technique uses eddy currents for investigating elongated components made from electrically conducting materials. It is used in metallurgically rolled producst, in machine tools, nuclear technology, the production of vacuum tubes and in electronic systems for automatic quality control. The elongated object is passed through an electronic system and bombarded with a signal. There is a signal analyser (17) and a meter (18) which determines the lengths of sections of the object with deficiencies. there is a subsidiary deficiency counter (19) and a main deficiency counter (20). There is also a sorting circuit (28) a quality indicator (29) and a converter (30). The signals are fed to an oscilloscope (31), whose synchronisation input is connected to the length code via a frequency divider (37).
