Abstract

An electrical accumulator with a high energy density to act as power source for hearing aids or electronic calculators. The accumulator is completely sealed and can operate in any position. It functions on the basis of the iron-silver oxide system and also has the good cyclic properties of nickel-cadmium accumulators. The cell consists of two holders (1, 2) with one of the holders (1) containing the iron electrode (3). The other holder (2) contains the silver oxide electrode (4). The cell is completely sealed from the environment because the edge (5) of one of the holders is folded over the other holder. The two holders are electrically insulated by the sealing material (6). There is a separator (7) between the two electrodes and it is reinforced by a ring (8). The electrolyte contains an aqueous solution with an alkalinic reaction.
