Abstract

A device for packing thread, rope, tape, etc., comprises a baseplate with a central circular opening, over which a cylinder or truncated cone, divided in two by a slot at right angles to the baseplate, braced across the bottom by one or more strips between which the thread, etc. can pass, is placed and secured at a number of points to the baseplate so as to form a unit until the coiled product is required for use; the connections being then broken so that the cylinder or cone can turn on the baseplate. The product can be wound on by means of automatic machines. Lengths can be drawn off easily without tangling, and the end is never lost.
