Abstract

The bricklayer's gauge consists of a core formed by a number of slats (1) nailed together and of different lengths. Around these there are nailed (6) from opposite sides four planks (2, 3, 4, 5). The nailing is carried out in such a manner as to allow subsequent planing etc., and the complete gauge is impregnated to make it waterproof. The ends can also be protected additionally against damp penetration by the application of a layer of wax or other suitable material. The design renders the gauge impervious and thus it will not warp or distort.
