Abstract

Equipment and pipelines in a heated water system are descaled by pumping an acid solution through the system. The soln. is made up of a dilute mineral, acid with >=1 mordancy inhibitors, such as copper chloride, antimony chloride, zinc chloride, it is pumped round the system so that the gases can escape through a storage tank for the soln. The device cleans out the scale without the severity of normal mineral acid solutions which attack weak places such as soldering points, etc. as well as setting up highly pressurised pockets of gas tending to burst the pipes, etc.
