Abstract

The brake master cylinder actuating mechanism is for use on a vehicle, and on braking the master cylinder piston rod (2) is actuated by a hydraulic ram (5) via a spring (3) between the two. Movement of the ram piston is regulated to suit the desired braking power, typically by a hydraulic control valve actuated by the drive and affecting delivery of fluid under pressure to the ram. The valve slide is actuated by the pedal etc., and the valve housing moves with the ram rod, so that with each brake application the ram extends for the same distance as the slide is moved, and then remains stationary until the slide is moved again, or released.
