Abstract

The process uses a stamping tool, a vibration being induced at the same time in the layer of earth to be compacted, typically in an annular area round the stamping area, the frequency being variedly steplessly to suit ground conditions. There can be a vibration generator on the tool, coupled to a vibration member acting against the ground and adjacent to the stamping punch, typically by means of a tube enclosing the stem of the punch, and having a support on which counterweights are spring-mounted, both being ring-shaped. The punch can be in the form of a widened foot, the vibratory member being a ring enclosing it.
