Abstract

The arrangement is of the type whereby the ballast material (4) is taken to its destination by a vessel (1). The ballast is lowered to the bottom (5) by means of a net (3) or similar container which is suspended from the vessel on cables (2). When the net is on or near the bottom it is emptied. The ballast may be tipped into the net from the vessel. The net may be emptied by tipping. The vessel may be provided with bottom doors (7) with the net arranged below and/or by the side of the doors. The vessel may be of the split hold type.
