Abstract

The two chambers (10, 12) each contain an electrical grid structure, supported by an insulating element, attached to the respective chamber. To avoid leakage currents between the grill and the chamber due to humidity etc, the insulating element in the smoke chamber (10) is surrounded by a conductor. The chambers (10, 12) each being maintained at a first potential, and each of the grids having a second, opposite, potential. Pref. the grid in the smoke chamber (10) is supported by several insulating elements, the periphery of each being surrounded by a conductor. The grid is connected to an electronic impedance converted and each of the conductors is connected tot he output of the latter.
