Abstract

2-(3,5-Di-tert-butylphenyl)thioalkane carboxylic acids (I): and their acid addn. salts where R is tert. butyl; X is S or SO2; Z is H or OH; R1 is H or CH3; R2 is 1-6C alkyl; R3 is H or 1-3C alkyl esp. where X is S and R3 is H. They are used in the treatment of arteriosclerosis. The reaction is carried out in inert solvents in presence of a base.
