Abstract

Carrier particles for electrostatographic developer mixts. are prepd. by coating core particles (esp. 50-100 mu Al2O3 particles) with an acrylic resin. The resin can be thermoplastic (pref. a partially crosslinked (meth)acrylate homo- or copolymer with a wt.-or mol. wt. of 70,000-500,000 and a glass temp. of 60-110 degrees C) or thermosetting, pref. contg. OH or COOH gps. The coated particles have high abrasion resistance, good flowing properties and are hydrophobic.
