Abstract

The filled troughs are conveyed through a station (27) where holes are formed in the earth in them, and then through a further station (37) where the bulbs are inserted in the holes. The conveyor can first travel through a station where the torughs are placed on it, and then through one where they are filled with earth, and after the bulbs have been inserted through a second filling station for them to be covered with sand and sprayed with water to moisten the earth. A free space can be provided before the second filling station, to allow rectification by hand of any incorrect bulb positions. The conveyor can be of the chain type, followed by a roller conveyor at the spraying station.
