Abstract

Metal objects are provided with thick, ductile, dense firmly adhering coatings of a pref. more electropositive or a more electronegative metal by mechanically working (bombarding, rubbing, etc.) the substrate with bodies of the plating metal in a soln. contg. a sol. cpd. of the plating metal. In an example, sheet objects are zinc-plated by rotating them with granular zinc in a satd. ZnCL2 soln. No pretreatment of the metal objects (degreasing, pickling etc.) is necessary.
