Abstract

Double-glazed untis are prepd. by pre-heating the plates and advancing them past sealing device which heats the edges of the plates to a deformable state and presses them together to form an edge wall between the plates. The plates are supported vertically and carried through a pre-heating zone in a direction perpendicular to their surfaces and then moved in the direction of their ends through the sealing station along a path parallel to their surfaces, the sealed units then being supported vertically and advanced through a discharge zone in a direction perpendicular to their surfaces.
