Abstract

Oil barrier, esp. for confining oil slicks on water e.g. resulting from leakage from oil tankers, is able to float vertically on water and comprises >=2 mutually parallel parts each consisting of a row of parallel adjacent bars of the same length, held together by >=1 wire and made of a material which can float in water, as well as a series of spacer elements for maintaining the mutual spacing of the part barriers. The tie wires pref. run through bores in the bars perpendicular to the bar axes.
