Abstract

Gases from petroleum refining or petrochemical plants are purified by introducing the gas mixture into an alkali wash system subdivided into a zone for forming neutral salts in which purified gas is recovered and into a zone for forming acid salt in which partially purified gas and a soln. of acid salts is formed, and in which opt. each zone is subdivided into more than 2 sections each of which is connected in series is controlled so that the rate of absorption of acid gases in alkali wash soln. leads to formatn. of acids salt.
