Abstract
Propylene or isobutylene is contacted with O2 (opt. contg. a dilluent) in the vapour phase at elevated temps. (pref. 350-600 degrees C) over a catalyst comprising (a) bismuth antimonate and (b) Bi molybdate Bi tungstate, Mo oxide, W oxide, V oxide, U oxide and/or Fe oxide. Ratio (a):(b) may be 90:10 to 10:90. Pref. 0.01-0.5 molar amts. of n-butylene are present. Catalyst has high selectivity towards (meth)acrolein.
