Drawing and fixing of flat textile products and thread constructions is effected during their passage through a metal bath which is at a temp. below m.pt. of the fibrous material, this temp. being selected in accordance with velocity of the product through the bath. Presence of oxygen during fixing is avoided without additional costs, and products are drawn and fixed uniformly without damage by overheating.
