Abstract

Paraffins can be separated from other hydrocarbons by adding to the mixture 0.001 - 5.0% by wt. of a linear polymer, derived in at least o0% by wt. from a C14-24 monoe-olefine and having a mol.wt. up to 200,000, and, optionally, a solvent for the paraffins; cooling the mixture to effect crystallisation of the paraffins; and separating the crystals by filtration. The addition of the polymer promotes the formation of paraffin crystals of the desirable size, whereby filtration is facilitated.
