Abstract

Gas-fired cupola of the known type with a melting chamber for the charge and a fore-chamber for superheating the molten metal, the axes of the two chambers being displaced relative to each other, the superheating chamber being provided with burners in the walls and a space for collecting molten metal on the hearth, incorporating the improvement whereby the superheating chamber has a smaller cross section in the region above the burner tunnels than in these regions immediately above and below it.
