Abstract

A strongly agitated bed of washing powder containing a liquid-absorbing substance is sprayed with one or more concentrated jets, or an atomised spray, of dye. The powder pref. contains at least 5 wt.% of the absorbent, such as alkalimetal-phosphates, tripolyphosphates, tetrapyrophosphate, hexametaphosphate, sulphates or carbontes. This method overcomes the difficulties and cost of present methods, such as incorporating a pre-aged ingredient or spraying a thin layer of powder moving on a conveyor.
