Abstract
A monoester of o-phthalic acid with an aliphatic primary alcohol C-3 or higher, is reacted with excess of that alcohol at 200 - 320 degrees C under pressure. Specifically, the alcohol is n-butanol, mixed heptyl-, octyl-, nonyl alcohols, 2 ethylhexyl alcohol. The products can be distilled at reduced pressures to give acid free colourless esters.
