Abstract

Themoplastic polymers are prepared from (I) a rubbery polymer of one or more conjugated dienes, (II) acrylonitrile, (III) a large amount of a tert. alkyl-styrene with 4-8C atoms in the tertiary alkyl group, and (IV) optionally a small amount of styrene (IV) opt subst. with one or two 1-3C alkyl gps. in the ring. The polymers have high impact resistance, combined with high clarity or transparency. They have a higher Vicat softening point than similar polymers prepared from a rubber, acrylonitrile and styrene.
