Description
Description
According to a first aspect the present disclosure relates to a roll container, having a receiving space for receiving products, said roll container comprising:
a support element for bounding said receiving space at a bottom side thereof, wheels for moving said roll container on a surface, two side elements, extending upwards from said support element, bounding said receiving space at opposite sides thereof, wherein, in use, products may be loaded in and unloaded from said receiving space via a loading side of said roll container.
According to a second aspect the present disclosure relates to a cover for a roll container according to the first aspect of the present disclosure.
According to a third aspect the present disclosure relates to a use of the cover according to the second aspect of the present disclosure for covering, in a first position of said cover, said loading side of said container and for uncovering, in a second position of said cover, said loading side.
Roll containers are frequently used for storing and/or transporting goods such as groceries packed in boxes, placed on trays or wrapped in foil. Known roll containers comprise side panels that are hingedly connected to each other for allowing a user to open the roll container for providing access to any goods present inside said roll container. These known roll containers are, however, relatively heavy and thereby limit the amount of weight that can be transported.
In an alternative embodiment, known roll containers are provided with only two or three side panels. After providing goods inside said roll container according to this alternative embodiment the roll container is wrapped in foil to avoid any goods to fall of the roll container. A drawback of these known roll containers according to the alternative embodiment is an increase of waste material due to use of the foil.
Moreover, wrapping the roll container in foil and removing the foil is rather labour intensive.
An object of the present invention is to provide a solution to the aforementioned drawbacks.
The aforementioned drawbacks are overcome by providing said roll container with a cover, wherein said cover is releasably attached to said side elements in a first position of said cover for covering said loading side of said container, said cover comprising:
attachment elements for releasably attaching said cover to said side elements;
a cover element, wherein said cover element comprises a flexible mesh structure and a rectangular perimeter structure, wherein said rectangular perimeter structure is connected to said mesh structure and forms a rectangular perimeter of said mesh structure, longitudinal rigid elements for maintaining said cover element, in use, in an upright direction, and wherein said cover element in a second position of said cover for uncovering said loading side may be folded or rolled up in a direction transversal to said upright direction.
The roll container according the first aspect of the present disclosure comprises a cover that is releasably attached to side element of the roll container. A releasable attachment allows for re-using the cover. Re-use of the cover allows to realise a relative small amount of waste as compared to the known foil solution. Moreover, by providing longitudinal rigid elements there is no longer a need to wrap the roll container. Since the longitudinal rigid elements are arranged for maintaining said cover element, during use, in said upright direction, the cover can be applied to a side of said receiving space for covering a loading side, whereas the known foil needs to be wrapped around the roll container for providing structural stability to the foil for covering the loading side. Since there is no need to wrap the cover around the roll container, removing the cover requires relative little time.
By providing said longitudinal rigid elements in combination with said flexible mesh structure and said perimeter structure a relative lightweight cover may be realised for covering said loading side and thereby increasing the amount of weight that can be transported by a single roll container.
A further advantage of the roll container according to the present disclosure is that said mesh structure allows air to pass the cover element. Allowing air to pass the cover element is beneficial to reduce any drag that wind may have on the cover element. A relative small drag is beneficial for avoiding empty roll containers to be propelled by the wind.
A yet further advantage is that a user may visually observe any products that are received in said receiving space. Allowing a user to visually observe any products present in said receiving space is beneficial for allowing a user to sort out filled containers.
Yet another advantage is that a user may scan any products that are received in said receiving space using an optical scanning device. This is beneficial for determining a characteristic of goods that may be present in said receiving space in a relative fast manner without the need to remove any foil.
Within the context of the present disclosure a mesh structure may be a barrier comprising a flexible sheet material provided with a plurality of openings for providing an open structure allowing air to pass said mesh structure via said plurality of openings. In an embodiment according to the present disclosure, a mesh structure is a barrier made of connected strands of flexible material.
Preferably, said loading side of said roll container extends between said side elements.
It is beneficial if said rectangular perimeter structure is provided with receiving arrangements for removably receiving said longitudinal rigid elements. This is beneficial for folding said cover element in a longitudinal and a transversal direction when transporting said cover element, when said longitudinal rigid elements are removed from said receiving arrangements.
Preferably, said longitudinal rigid elements comprise wood, preferably are rods made from wood. Wood is an attractive material to realise a relative low carbon foot print of the cover. Moreover, wood is relatively durable and may be recycled to realise a relative low impact on the environment.
In an embodiment of the roll container according to the present disclosure first attachment elements of said attachment elements for attaching said cover to a first side element of said side elements are provided with hook and loop fasteners, wherein said hook and loop fasteners, at least in said first position, are wrapped around a part of said first side element of said side elements such that the hook an loop fasteners are attachable to itself for said attaching. Hook and loop fasteners are attractive for attaching and removing the cover in a relative short time period. In this regard it is beneficial if hooks of said hook and loop fasteners are at a side of said hook and loop fasteners that is opposite the side at which loops of said hook and loop fasteners are provided.
It is advantageous if a second attachment element of said attachment elements for attaching said cover to a second side element of said side elements is provided with a hook element for hooking to said second side element of said side elements. A hook element is attractive for attaching and removing the cover in a relative short time period by a hooking action.
In this regard it is beneficial if said hook element is a rigid element that, in use, preferably extends transversal to said upright direction. This is beneficial for allowing a user to bring said cover in said first position, wherein said cover covers said loading side, by moving said hook transversal to said upright direction. This allows for a relative practical covering and uncovering of said loading side.
In an embodiment of the roll container according to the present disclosure said attachment elements are provided with a only one hook element for attaching said cover to said second side element of said side elements. This is beneficial for allowing a user to bring said cover in said first position, wherein said cover covers said loading side, by deploying only one hook element.
It is advantageous if said attachment elements are connected, via said longitudinal elements, to said cover element. Connecting the attachment elements in this way is beneficial for avoiding the need for separate storage of the attachment elements in said second position of said cover.
It is beneficial if said mesh structure is formed as a net, preferably a net made from a polymer. A net is beneficial for realising a relative flexible cover element. A polymer, preferably polypropylene is beneficial for realizing flexibility while avoiding relative large stretching of the net.
Preferably, dimensions of said cover element are such that in said first position of said cover said cover element completely covers said loading side. This is beneficial for covering said loading side and thereby avoiding, or significantly reducing the risk, of products falling of said roll container. In other words, the cover is wider than said loading side for allowing said cover to be attached to said side elements.
In a practical embodiment of the roll container, outer dimensions of said rectangular perimeter structure are equal to dimensions of said loading side. This is beneficial for covering said loading side while avoiding excess weight and volume due to said cover.
It is advantageous if said side elements are releasably attached via a locking arrangement to said support element. This is beneficial for realising a relative small volume for transporting empty roll containers, wherein said side elements are detached from said support element.
In this regard it is beneficial if said cover element is provided with an operating opening, wherein said operating opening is larger than an opening of said mesh structure and wherein said operating opening is aligned with said locking arrangement for allowing a user to lock and unlock said side element from said support element by operating said locking arrangement. This is beneficial for allowing a user to remove said side element from said support element or to attach said side element to said support element while said cover remains attached to said side element. This is beneficial for realising a relative small volume for transporting empty roll containers in a relative short time period. Due to the operating opening there is no longer a need to remove said cover before removing said side element from said support element.
It is advantageous if a width of said cover corresponds to a width said side elements for maintaining said cover in a stretched condition, in a direction transversal to said upright direction, when said cover is in said second position. This is beneficial for avoiding, or at least significantly reducing the risk, that said cover entangles, for instances entangles with side elements of neighbouring roll containers.
In an embodiment of said roll container according to the first aspect of the present disclosure said receiving space is open at a side of said receiving space opposite said supporting element, preferably wherein said side of said receiving space opposite said supporting element is free from said cover.
It is beneficial, if said cover is arranged for covering only one side of said receiving space. This is beneficial for covering said loading side while avoiding excess weight and volume due to said cover.
In an embodiment said perimeter structure comprises tarpaulin. Tarpaulin is an attractive material to realise a relative durable perimeter structure while maintaining said cover element relatively flexible.
In an alternative embodiment, the present disclosure relates to a roll container, having a receiving space for receiving products, said roll container comprising:
a support element for bounding said receiving space at a bottom side thereof, wheels for moving said roll container on a surface, two side elements, extending upwards from said support element, bounding said receiving space at opposite sides thereof, wherein, in use, products may be loaded in and unloaded from said receiving space via a loading side of said roll container, wherein said roll container comprises a cover, wherein said cover is releasably attached to said side elements in a first position of said cover for covering said loading side of said container, said cover comprising:
