The present disclosure relates to a floral wrapper for wrapping around at least a part of one or multiple floral elements, such as multiple flowers or a bunch of flowers, in particular a floral wrapper arranged and / or intended to form a protective sleeve for one or multiple floral elements during transport from a grower, an auction-mart, an exporter or a wholesale business to an auction-mart, an exporter, a wholesale business or a retailer.

It is known that flower growers often use a sheet of relatively thin translucent or transparent plastic film material or other flexible sheet material to wrap up a bunch of flowers to be transported. After wrapping the sheet of material around at least a part of the bunch of flowers, in particular about the upper part of the bunch of flowers, for instance by rolling the sheet of material into a sleeve having a substantial truncated cone shape, the sheet material is usually fixated, eg by means of staples, adhesive tape or other means, in order to counteract that the sleeve's material will unfold. The so-formed sleeve may be loosely around the bunch or flowers, or may alternatively be fixed, in particular by tying a string or a rubber band tightly around a lower portion of the sleeve crumpling said sleeve tightly against the stems of the bunch of flowers. Subsequently, multiple or such wrapped up bunches of flowers are placed together in a single compartment of a crate, a bucket or the like, which will then be transported to an auction-mart, an exporter, a wholesale business or a retailer, such as a florist or a supermarket, etc. In order to counteract the floral elements wither during transport, the sleeve, which thus may be formed substantially as a truncated cone, is usually open at its lower end in order to facilitate that lower ends of stems of the floral elements can be protrude from the sleeve and can be placed in a layer of water contained in the crate or the bucket or the like.

Although using such a relatively thin sheet material seems to be a very economical way of wrapping a bunch of flowers, a relatively large fallout rate of damaged flowers, due to relatively weak protection given by such a wrapper or relatively thin sheet material, may be very disadvantageous .

Different solutions have been suggested in order to counteract the flowers during transport.

For example, crate dividers have been proposed which can divide the interior of a crate into compartments in order to counteract that different bunches of flowers or bump into each other too much during transport.

It is an object of the present disclosure to provide an alternative packing for one or multiple floral elements, such as flowers. In particular, it can be an object of the present disclosure to provide a floral packing, especially a floral wrapper, at least one of the disadvantages or a prior art floral packing is counteracted. More in particular, the present disclosure may aim to provide a floral wrapper, at least one of the disadvantages mentioned above is counteracted. In present, the present disclosure aims at providing a floral wrapper which may be relatively well that floral elements wrapped therein are unintentionally damaged during their transport.

Thereto, the present disclosure provides for a protective floral wrapper, including a substantial sheet shaped main body for wrapping around a part of one or multiple floral elements such as to form, during use of the protective floral wrapper, a protective sleeve that is open at a proximal end of said protective sleeve such as to allow a part of one or multiple stems or the like of the one or multiple floral elements to protrude or said protective sleeve at or near a proximal end region of the substantial sheet shaped main body , the protective floral wrapper further comprises at least one fixation tab protruding from said proximal end region of the substantial sheet shaped main body such as to allow, during use of the protective floral wrapper, said fixation tab to extend along at least a portion of the part of the one or multiple votes or the like protruding out of the protective sleeve.

By providing the fixation tab, the protective sleeve can be fixed, in particular tied, at least one of the one or multiple votes or the like protruding out of the protective sleeve, without having to crumple a lower end of the sleeve itself, which can be highly advantageous.

On the one hand, the fixation tab can thus be counteracted that the protective sleeve has been crumpled in order to tie it to a bunch of flowers. As a result or that the material sheet does not need to be flexible enough to be crumpled, relatively rigid material can be used, which can help protect the floral elements relatively well. Additionally or alternatively, by not crumpling the sleeve, it can be counteracted that the initial form of the sleeve has been deformed or damaged in order to fix the sleeve to the bunch of flowers. This may be highly advantageous, for instance when the initial form of the sleeve is a relatively strong form, in particular a form being relatively capable of resisting compressive forces, such as a substantially truncated cone shaped form or a substantially round cylindrical shaped form.

Regarding the fixation tab on the one hand can counteract the protective sleeve has to be crumpled, the fixation tab can on the other hand facilitate the protective sleeve, which can actually be relatively protective, can be firmly fixated to the bunch of flowers or the like. For instance in order to further improve that shifting of the tab, and therefore shifting of the protective sleeve, can be counteracted, the fixation tab may preferably be provided with a second identification located at a second side edge or the fixation tab located opposite to its first side edge.

Additionally or alternatively, at least one side edge of the fixation tab can be provided with at least two indentations.

By providing a tab side edge with multiple indentations, it can be facilitated that a band can be positioned relatively easily within at least one identification, in particular without a need or having to position the band very accurately. Actually, by providing multiple indentations, on the one hand, chances are relatively high that the band, which may go round the one or multiple voices or the like multiple revolutions, will pass at least one indentation. On the other hand, when the band will be applied in a manner in which it does not pass through an indentation but extends over an intermediate portion of the tab located between two adjacent indentations located at the same side edge of the fixation tab, the band may slip into one or said two adjacent identifiers in the fixation case tab could still shift to some extent. By providing the protective floral wrapper with multiple fixation tabs, such as at least two fixation tabs, it can be facilitated that the protective sleeve, formed from the floral wrapper's substantial sheet shaped main body, can be fixated relatively well. For example, it may be counteracting at least some extent that the sleeve can topple. Hence, floral elements or parts, in particular relatively sensitive and / or relatively vulnerable floral parts, such as for instance rosebuds, may be protected relatively well.

The present disclosure also relates to an assembly that comprises a protective floral wrapper, and one or more floral elements, bearing the substantial sheet shaped main body forms a protective sleeve housing at least a part, in particular an upper part, or the at least one floral element. Further, the present disclosure relates to a method for wrapping one or multiple floral elements.

Advantageous according to the present disclosure are described in the appended claims.

Figure 1 shows an exemplary embodiment of a protective floral wrapper 1, which can be used in the plant industry, in particular to wrap up one or multiple floral elements 3. A user of the floral wrapper 1, for example a grower, can wrap up floral elements 3, such as cut flowers 3 ', by means of said floral wrapper 1, especially prior to transport the one or multiple floral elements 3 from a grower, an auction-mart, an exporter or a wholesale business to an auction-mart , an exporter, a wholesale business or a retailer.

It will be appreciated by the person skilled in the art, that cut flower 3 can be considered as a unit including a vote 31 and one or more actual flowers 3 ”and / or flower buds attached to said vote, and that said cut flower 3 'may, at least in various, further include one or more branches and / or one or more leaves 32, etc.

As can for instance seen in Figures 2 and 4, which show two examples of assemblies 9 including such a protective floral wrapper 1 and a bunch of flowers 3 ', multiple floral elements 3 can be wrapped by means of such floral wrapper 1. However, the floral wrapper 1 may alternatively be used to pack or wrap up a single floral element 3, for instance a relatively valuable floral element, such as a precious cut rose or other cut flower. In case multiple floral elements are packed together or wrapped up by means of a single floral wrapper 1, said multiple floral elements may preferably be bundled up, for instance by means of a string 6 or band 6, such as a rubber band. It is noted that the multiple floral elements 3 may be a bunch of floral elements 3, in particular a bunch of cut flowers 3 "or the like. Such bunch of flowers 3 "can for instance be a bunch of the same cut flowers 3", such as a bunch of the same cut roses. However, in alternative possibilities, the bunch of floral elements may include different floral elements, and may be a so-called bouquet for instance.

As can be seen relatively well in Figure 1, the floral wrapper 1 comprises a substantial sheet shaped main body 2. Said substantial sheet shaped main body 2 is arranged for wrapping around a part 313 or one or multiple floral elements 3 such as to form, during use of the protective floral wrapper 1, a protective sleeve 2 '. Said part 313 of the one or multiple floral elements 3 around which the substantially sheet shaped main body 2 is to be wrapped may in particular be formed at least by an upper part 313 'or said one or multiple floral elements 3, in particular such that at least one or more current flower 3 'and / or flower buds and / or other relatively precious and / or relatively vulnerable flower parts can be packed, and therefore protected to at least some extent.

The protective sleeve 2 'may, during use of the floral wrapper 1, form a cover 2', case 2 'or sheath 2' for protecting at least a part or at least one floral element 3. During use of the floral wrapper 1, when its main body 2 may be rolled up to form the protective sleeve 2, said protective sleeve 2 can be substantially funnel-shaped and / or can substantially form a truncated cone 2 ”. As can be seen in Figure 1, a proximal end edge 200 of the substantially sheet shaped main body 2, which during use may define a lower end of the then formed sleeve 2 ', may be substantially formed as an arc segment, in particular such that it defines a substantially concave or hollow curvature. Additionally, or alternatively, a distal end edge 230 of the substantially sheet shaped main body 2, which during use may define an upper end of the then formed sleeve 2 ', may be substantially formed as an arc segment, in particular such that it curves outward and / or defines a substantially convex curvature. For instance then, the upper edge 230 "or the sleeve 2" may then form a substantially round or oval top edge or the sleeve 2 ", when the substantially sheet shaped main body 2 is wrapped up to said said sleeve 2".

As further can be seen in Figure 1, the substantially sheet shaped main body 2 may be provided with at least two connector parts 61, 62 that can engagingly connect to each other in order to facilitate holding the substantial sheet shaped main body 2, during use or the protective floral wrapper 1, in a use position in which said main body 2 forms the protective sleeve 2 '. Said connector parts may thus counteract that the sleeve's sheet material will unfold.

For example, a first one 21 or two opposite lateral end regions 21, 22 of the substantially sheet shaped main body 2 that extend away from the proximal end region 20 or said main body 2 can be provided with a first connector part 61, while the second lateral end region 22 is provided with a second connector part 62. Said first connector part 61 and second connector part 62, may be arranged to engage the protective sleeve 2 'in its use position. Actually, the floral wrapper's main body 2 may be provided with multiple sets or cooperating connector parts 61, 62.

In the shown embodiment, the first connector part 61 or such set is formed as an insertion tab 610 and the second connector part 62 is formed as a receiving opening 620 for lockingly receiving said insertion tab 610.

However, in alternative expires, other connector parts may be provided, for instance snap fasteners, such as press studs, or any other suitable connector parts.

Although the floral wrapper's main body 2 may be provided with connector parts 61, 62 for counteracting unfolding or the sleeve 2 ', the sleeve 2 may alternatively or additionally be held in its use position by any other suitable means, for example by means or adhesive tape, glue, one or more staples, clamps or clips, such as paper clips, or any other suitable fastenings means or any other suitable holding techniques or methods, such as welding, for instance as the substantially sheet shaped main body 2 is made from a thermoplastic material.

It is noted that the protective floral wrapper 1 includes at least one fixation tab 4, during use of the protective floral wrapper 1, fixing the sleeve 2 to the one or more floral elements 3. It will be appreciated that the fixation tab 4 can be used to say one or more floral elements 3 by means of at least one band 5 or the like which surrounds both the portion 310 'or the part 310 or the one or multiple voices 31 or the like protruding out of the protective sleeve 2 'and the fixation tab 4. For example, the band 5 or the like may preferably be formed as a rubber band or so-called elastic band or the like. However, the band 5 could alternatively be formed by a string, a rope, a cord, a belt, a tube, a line, a tape, such as an adhesive tape, a wire, or any other suitable tape.

The fixation tab 4 may be formed as a lip, a tongue or a protrusion, in particular an elongate protrusion. Preferably, the fixation tab 4 may be an elongate fixation tab, i.e. a fixation tab having a length being greater than its width.

The fixation tab 4 protrudes from the proximal end region 20 of the substantially sheet shaped main body 2, in particular it protrudes in a substantial downward direction D, which can be considered a direction directed from the main body's distal end region 23 and / or from the sleeve's distal end side 23 'towards the main body's proximal end region 20 and / or the sleeve's proximal end side 20'. Preferably, the height H44 or the intermediate portion 44, which is the distance between the two respective adjacent indents 401, 403, can be relatively small. Although the protective floral wrapper 1 may include a single fixation tab 4, it may be advantageous if the protective floral wrapper 1 includes multiple fixation tabs 4, for instance two fixation tabs 4, such as can be seen in the exemplary edition of Figures 1 and 2. For example, two fixation tabs 4 may be in the assembled position of the protective floral wrapper 1 located substantially opposite to each other, especially at substantially opposite sides of the stem's portion 310 'along to which said fixation tabs 4 extend. Additionally or alternatively, the two or more fixation tabs 4 may be positioned in the assembled position of the protective floral wrapper 1, the largest one of the gaps 8 between two adjacent fixation tabs 4 does not exceed 180 ° of the local perimeter. Preferably, it may be relatively easy to roll the sheet material, but may be relatively difficult to crumple the sheet material, such that the eventually formed sleeve 2 'may resist compressive forces and / or impact forces relatively well, as a result of which the protective floral wrapper 1 may protect flowers 3 or the like relatively well.

As will be appreciated from the above, the protective floral wrapper 1 can be used to pack up or wrap up one or multiple floral components 3.

A method for wrapping one or multiple floral elements 3, can for instance include at least the step of providing a protective floral wrapper 1 having a substantial sheet shaped main body 2, and the step of providing one or multiple floral elements 3.

In case of multiple floral elements 3, such as a multiplicity of cut roses or other cut flowers or the like, said floral elements may be tied together, for instance by a band 6 or the like as shown in Figure 2, prior to wrapping them up. For instance when a florist or other reseller of the floral elements 3 may unwrap the floral elements 3 after they have been transported to him, said multiplicity of floral elements 3 can stay connected or keep forming a coherent unity, such as a bouquet or a bunch of flowers or the like. However, in alternative variant, the multiple floral elements 3 may not have been tied together on forehand, and / or may not have been held together in their wrapped condition other than by means of the one or more bands 5 or the like that hold the one or more fixation tabs fixed, for instance such floral elements 3 may come loose easily when they are unwrapped after transport.

The method of wrapping can further include a step of wrapping said substantially sheet shaped main body 2 around a part of said one or multiple floral elements 3 forming a protective sleeve 2 'said said or said one or multiple floral elements 3, with a part 310 or one or multiple voices 31 or the like or the one or multiple floral elements 3 protrude out of said protective sleeve 2 '. Further, at least one fixation tab 4 is provided that extends along at least a portion 310 'or the part 310 or the one or multiple votes 31 or the like protruding out of the protective sleeve 2' and that is attached to the protective sleeve 2 ". Preferably, said step of providing the fixation tab 4 may be executed together with the step of providing the protective floral wrapper 1. In particular, said fixation tab 4 may be an integral part of said floral wrapper 1, and may for instance be formed together with the substantial sheet shaped main body 2 from a single sheet of sheet material. However, in alternatively, one or multiple fixation tabs may be attached to the substantially sheet shaped main body 2 around another, for instance prior to, at least partly simultaneously with, and / or after wrapping said substantial sheet shaped main body 2 around said part of said one or multiple floral elements 3.

Advantageously, the protective sleeve 2 'may be applied such that most of the floral elements 3, and preferably substantially none of the floral elements 3, do not protrude beyond the upper edge 230' or the sleeve 2 ', for instance at least such that most, and preferably substantially all, or any actual flowers 3 'or flower buds can be protected by said sleeve 2', in particular during transport.

The method further comprises a step of fixing said fixation tab 4 at least one of the one or multiple votes 31 or the like protruding out of the protective sleeve 2 ', for instance by means of tying said fixation tab 4 at least one of the one or multiple voices 31 or the like protruding out of the protective sleeve 2 by means of a band 5 or the like. It will be appreciated that tying could be considered to include strapping, binding, and the like, such as fastening said fixation tab 4 by means of so-called rubber banding, in particular by means of wrapping an endless rubber band 5 one or multiple times around the one or multiple votes 31 or the like protruding out of the protective sleeve 2 '.

Preferably, the band 5 or the like can be tied substantially around both the fixation tab 4 and the part 310 "or the part 310 or the one or multiple voices 31 or the like protruding out of the protective sleeve 2".

In case the fixation tab 4 is provided with one or multiple indentations 400, the band 5 or the like can be applied such that said band 5 or the like extends at least partly through at least one of said two indentations 401, 403. However, the band 5 or the like may also be applied such that at least partly extends over an intermediate portion 44 of the tab 4 located between two adjacent indents 401, 403 located at a single side edge 41 or the fixation tab 4 and / or such that it is at least partly extended over a tab portion 45 that extends between an upper indentation 401, 402 and a proximal end edge 200 or so-called bottom edge 200 or the substantially sheet shaped main body 2.

It will be appreciated that one or more method steps may be carried out at least partly by machine. For example, the step of fixing the one or more fixation tabs 4 at least one of the one or multiple votes 31 or the like protruding out of the protective sleeve 2 'may be carried out by means of a rubber banding machine or so- called rubber bander.

It is noted that for the purpose of clarity and a concise description features are described as part of the same or separate, however, it will be appreciated that the scope of the present disclosure may include being combinations of all or some of the features described.

Further, it is noted that the claimed invention is not restricted to the described described. It will be understood that many variants are possible.

For example, it is noted that although a single sheet of sheet material can be used to form the main body and the least one fixation tab, this does not mean that said single sheet may only include a single layer. Actually, the sheet material may be a multilayer sheet material, for instance including one or more paper base layers and at least one cover or coating layer or the like.

Such and other variants will be apparent to the person skilled in the art and are considered within the scope of the respective invention as formulated in the following claim set.
