Description
VENTILATION GRILLE
Description
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
The present invention falls within the technical field of ventilation grilles.
More specifically, it is a ventilation grille specially designed for domestic use and which is configurable.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
It is known that electrical household appliances generate certain heat that must be evacuated. This is of particular importance when said electrical household appliances are disposed in cavities in furniture surfaces or walls. In such cases, as the electrical household appliances are surrounded by the interior of the piece of furniture or the walls, it is important to favour the ventilation of said cavity to prevent too great a rise in temperature that could cause a malfunction in the electrical household appliance.
Therefore, the use of different ventilation grilles is known in the state of the art, such as for example grilles comprising a plurality of conduits to force hot air to circulate therethrough in such as manner as to allow the air to cool before flowing out.
Another example of known ventilation grilles comprises a plate having a plurality of orifices which are semi-covered to prevent the entry of foreign solid matter. Likewise, grilles are known that comprise a lid for the user to cover them when ventilation is not required so as to hide them from view during that time or uncover them when the air is required to pass therethrough.
Grilles are also known that are manufactured from stretched sheet metal such as, for example, aluminium, in which there are very small orifices. A problem posed by the ventilation grilles currently available in the market is that they have fixed dimensions, which are usually standard, but that in many cases do not meet the needs of users who may have cavities in furniture or walls in their houses that do not match said dimensions.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention discloses a ventilation grille specially designed for domestic use and which can be installed on a surface or wall to allow the passage of values or cooling of the internal cavity that it covers.
One of the most important advantages of the present invention is that the grille can be configured by the user using basic pieces and additional pieces which allow adaptation thereof to different positions and configurations and dimensions of the cavity to be covered.
The basic pieces of the grille are metal slats and holding and fixing pieces destined for being joined to said metal slats and which secure them in place. The air can flow from the exterior to the interior of the cavity, and vice versa, through the cavities between adjacent slats.
That is, the grille of the present invention has an aesthetic and ventilation advantage for the circulation and evacuation of the hot air generated by electrical household appliances such as, for example, microwave ovens. Likewise, they also offer a ventilation passage to be determined by the user and other similar configuration functions.
The grille may be disposed on the surface, piece of furniture or wall, in which case the holding and fixing pieces are joined directly to said surface by means of screws. Likewise, the grille may be disposed in the interior of a cavity, in which case the slats do not protrude from the surface and the grille is fixed to the surface by means of orifices disposed in an embeddable piece. Said embeddable piece is partially disposed on the surface to enable holding and fixing of the remaining elements.
The grille may comprise joining pieces for linearly joining several slats and increasing the length thereof for very long grilles. In those cases where the grilles are shorter in length, the slats can be cut to adapt them in each case.
Likewise, the grille may be destined for being disposed in a cavity in the interior whereof an electrical household appliance having a size smaller than the cavity, acting as a frame, is disposed around said electrical household appliance. A very typical example of this type of situation are the frame-shaped ventilation grilles that are disposed around microwave ovens. In these cases, the grille also fulfils an aesthetic purpose that is very important to users. A very important characteristic of the invention is that the holding and fixing pieces comprise elements whereonto the slats are coupled by pressure, that comprise at least a base, a lower core, a middle sector, an upper core, an upper core and an upper sector. Exerting pressure on the slat to introduce it in the holding and fixing pieces produces an elastic deformation which allows coupling thereof.
Positioning of the slats is carried out in two phases. In a first preassembly position, the slat is not fully positioned and this position is used while the grille is being adjusted and pre-assembled in place. When all the adjustment operations have been performed, pressure is exerted once again on each slat on the respective holding and fixing pieces to position them in the second position, which is the final position of the grille.

Following is a description, in light of figures 1 and 2, of some embodiments of the invention.
The described ventilation grille is particularly destined for the domestic use. The essential elements of the grille are a plurality of slats (1) and a plurality of holding and fixing pieces (5), which are the pieces in charge of holding the slats (1) in place.
Figure 1 shows a plurality of holding and fixing pieces (5) whereon a slat (1) is disposed. The slats (1) of the described grille have a configuration having an inverted U-shaped cross-section with two lateral sides (2) parallel to each other, an upper side (3) that joins the lateral sides (2). Likewise, they have at least one flap (4) that extends from the free end of one of the lateral sides (2) in a parallel direction to the upper side (3) towards the end of the other lateral side (2), creating an inner space (11) between the sides of the slat (1).
Figure 1 also shows the holding and fixing pieces (5). In the embodiment shown they are disposed in contact with each other and directly joined to each other. Each of said holding and fixing pieces (5) is configured to be joined to a slat (1) to secure the position of said slat (1).
The ventilation grille is characterised in that each holding and fixing piece (5) comprises, as can be observed in the figures, a flat and elongated base (6), a lower core (7) that extends from the base (6), a middle sector (8) that extends from the lower core (7), an upper core (9) that extends from the middle sector (8) and an upper sector (10) that extends from the upper core (9).
The key to the present invention is that the slats (1) and the holding and fixing pieces (5) can be disposed in two different positions with respect to each other. This possibility allows the user to pre-assemble the grille placing the slats (1) in a first position with respect to the holding and fixing pieces (5) and a full assembly, arranging the slats (1) in a second position with respect to the holding and fixing pieces (5).
In accordance with the first position, shown in figure 2a, the upper sector (10) is insertable in the inner space (11) of the slat (1) by elastic deformation. In this first position, the flap (4) of the slat (1) is in contact with the upper core (9) of the holding and fixing piece (5).
According to the second position, shown in figure 2b, the middle sector (8) is insertable in the inner space (11) of the slat (1) by elastic deformation. In this second position the flap (4) of the slat (1) is in contact with the lower core (7) of the holding and fixing piece (5) and the upper side (3) of the slat (1) is in contact with the upper sector (10) of the holding and fixing piece (5).
The geometry of the holding and fixing pieces (5) may vary slightly in each embodiment, always considering that the middle (8) and upper (10) sectors are destined for maintaining the flap (4) in the corresponding position when the slat (1) is in the first position or in the second position.
More specifically, the middle sector (8) maintains the slat (1) in the second position with the flap (4) in contact with the lower core (7). The upper sector (10) maintains the slat (1) in the first position with the flap (4) in contact with the upper core (9).
In one embodiment, at least the middle sector (8) or upper sector (10) have a domed configuration. In another embodiment, at least the middle sector (8) or the upper sector (10) extends in a flat configuration parallel to the base (6), the ends of which are finished in protrusions (12).
In the embodiment represented in the figures, the middle sector (8) has a domed configuration and the upper sector (10) extends in a flat configuration parallel to the base (6), the ends of which are finished in protrusions (12) that extend towards the base (6) perpendicular to the flat extension.
In an embodiment shown in figure 3 the holding and fixing pieces (5) comprise stops (15) at one of their ends. These stops (15) hide the slat (1) profiles and level them out at the same width, i.e. when the user observes the grille sideways, he/she cannot see the slats (1) profiles and also, as all the stops (15) are of the same size, possible differences in the arrangement of the slats (1) are camouflaged so that the general impression is that they are all levelled.
In another embodiment shown in figure 4, the grille additionally comprises connectors (13) which are disposed between two adjacent holding and fixing pieces (5) joined to the bases (6) of said holding and fixing pieces (5) having a laminar configuration with first orifices (14) configured to receive joining means for joining to the surface or wall.
In another embodiment, shown in figure 5, wherein the grille is used internally in the cavity of a piece of furniture or a wall, so as not to protrude, the grille additionally comprising an embeddable piece (16). Said embeddable piece (16) comprises a first section (17) that covers an end of the holding and fixing pieces (5) and extends perpendicular to the base (4), and a second section (18) that extends perpendicular to the first section (17) in the opposite direction to the holding and fixing pieces (5). This second section (18) comprises a plurality of second orifices (19) configured to receive joining means for joining to the surface or wall.
Likewise, the grille may have joining angles (20) for an embodiment in which it has a frame-shaped configuration. Two holding and fixing pieces (6) disposed perpendicular to each other extend from each of said joining angles (20) shown in figure 6. In said figure, a plurality of joining angles (20) joined to each other to configure that corresponding to the corner of the grille can be observed. Therefore, each joining square (10) can support two slats (1) disposed perpendicular therebetween so that, on having four sets of joining squares (20), a frame-shaped grille may be configured.
