Description
Bike frame with a lock seat
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a bike frame and more particularly to a bike frame with a lock seat.
Description of Related Art A bicycle is one kind of transportation tool used universally and provides both exercise and leisure functions. Most people prepare a portable lock or install a fixed lock on the bicycle to prevent the bicycle from being stolen. With references to TW patent No. M433439, TW patent No. M297897 and TW patent No. 390297, these references disclose several types of ring locks, which are commonly and widely used lock apparatus.
The ring locks are usually mounted on a bicycle frame by screws or clamps. The ring locks are difficult to install on a bicycle, and cannot be mounted securely. Therefore, when the bicycle is ridden under impact or shake, the ring locks may be loosened, fall, or generate annoying sounds.
With reference to CN patent publication No. 201405987Y, the reference discloses a bicycle frame with a multifunctional lock box. The multifunctional lock box is formed integratedly on the bicycle frame, and solves the drawback of weak connection of the conventional ring lock. The multifunctional lock box still has problem of manufacturing complexity, high costs, and long manufacturing time, etc. In addition, the multifunctional lock box must use a specified lock component with specific specification, such that the maintenance costs of the lock component and the multifunctional lock box are higher than other locks.
To overcome the shortcomings of the conventional bike frame and ring locks, the present invention provides a bike frame with a lock seat to mitigate or obviate the aforementioned problems.

With reference to Fig. 1, a first preferred embodiment of a bike frame 10 with a lock seat in accordance with the present invention has a lock seat 20 and a ring lock 30.
The bike frame 10 may be composed of tubes by welding or formed by casting or forging process, and has a head tube 11, a top tube 12, a seat tube 13, a bracket shell 14, a down tube 15, and a rear triangle. The head tube 11 is hollow. The top tube 12 is positioned horizontally and has a front end and a back end. The front end of the top tube 12 is connected with the head tube 1 l.The seat tube 13 is connected with the back end of the top tube 12 and has a bottom end and a rear side. The bracket shell 14 is traversely connected with the bottom end of the seat tube 13 and has a rear side. The down tube 15 is connected with the head tube 11 and the bracket shell 14.
The rear triangle is connected with the seat tube 13 and has a pair of chain stays 16, a pair of seat stays 17, and two bike dropouts 18. The chain stays 16 may be connected with the bottom end of the seat tube 13 or connected with the rear side of the bracket shell 14. The seat stays 17 are connected with the rear side of the seat tube 13 and are adjacent to the top of the seat tube 13. Each bike dropout 18 is connected with the chain stays 16 and the seat stays 17.
With reference to Fig. 2, the lock seat 20 is made of metal and may be mounted on the chain stays 16 or the seat stays 17; in the first preferred embodiment, the lock seat 20 is mounted on the seat stays 17. The seat stays 17 are divided by the lock seat 20 into a connecting unit 171 and a pair of tubes 172. The connecting unit 171 is tubular and is connected with the seat tube 13 and the lock seat 20. The tubes 172 are separate from each other and are respectively connected with the lock seat 20 and the bike dropouts 18.
The lock seat 20 has a seat board 21, an opening 22, a surrounding wall 23, an assembling recess 24, and two lock portions 25. The seat board 21 is U-shaped, is mounted on the seat stays 17, and has a U-shaped area and a periphery. The opening 22 is defined at the U-shaped area of the seat board 21. The surrounding wall 23 protrudes along the periphery of the seat board 21 and has two notches 231, an outer edge, a top side, and a bottom side. The notches 231 are respectively formed in the outer edge at two sides of the surrounding wall 23. The connecting unit 171 is connected with the top side of the surrounding wall 23. The tubes 172 are respectively connected with the bottom side of the surrounding wall 23. The assembling recess 24 is formed between the seat board 21 and the surrounding wall 23. The lock portions 25 are defined on the seat board 21 and are respectively adjacent to two sides of the opening 22. Each lock portion 25 has at least one fixing hole 251 disposed at intervals. Preferably, three fixing holes 251 are implemented. Alternatively, the lock portion 25 may be provided with at least one screw rod or at least one fixing rod instead of the at least one fixing hole 251.
The ring lock 30 is selected from the commercially available type, is mounted in the assembling recess 24, is mounted on the lock portions 25, and has two combination portions 31, multiple combination components 32, and a key hole. The combination portions 31 are respectively formed at two sides of the ring lock 30 and face each other. Each combination portion 31 has at least one through hole 311 formed through the combination portion 31. The combination components 32 are correspondingly mounted through each of the at least one through hole 311 and each of the at least one fixing hole 251 for fixing the ring lock 30 on the lock seat 20. The number of the through holes 311 on each combination portion 31 is preferably three. The amount of the combination components 32 correspond to the amount of the through holes 311. Each combination component 32 includes a bolt and a nut. The key hole of the ring lock 30 is located correspondingly to one of the notches 231 of the surrounding wall 23.
With reference to Figs. 2 to 4, the lock seat 20 and the rear triangle of the bike frame 10 are integrated together so as to provide a simplified structure for ease of manufacture and quick installation. The ring lock 30 can be mounted on the lock seat 20 securely and accurately to avoid falling or loosening by impact or shake during bike riding. The ring lock 30 can be chosen from any kind of commercially available ring locks, can be combined with the lock seat 20 to obtain an excellent appearance, and also can decrease the cost of installation and use.
With reference to Figs.5 and 6, in a second embodiment of a bike frame with a lock seat in accordance with the present invention, the elements and effects of the second embodiment are same as those of the first embodiment except the shape and partial structure of the lock seat 20A and the ring lock 30A. The connecting unit 173 of the seat stays 17 is a block. The lock seat 20A is connected with the connecting unit 173 and the seat tube 13.
With reference to Figs.7 and 8, in a third embodiment of a bike frame with a lock seat in accordance with the present invention, the elements and effects of the second embodiment are same as those of the first embodiment except the shape, mounting direction and partial structure of the lock seat 20B and the ring lock 30B. The lock seat 20B further includes a panel 26 and an installation opening 27. The panel 26 is connected with the surrounding wall 23 and the seat board 21 and is parallel to the seat board 21. The installation opening 27 is formed on one side of the lock seat 20B. The ring lock 30B is mounted in the assembling recess 24 via the installation opening 27 and is fixed in the lock seat 20B.
Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
