Abstract

The present invention relates to a security device for safeguarding valuables, comprising: - a housing with a pointed outer end which is configured for insertion during use into a ground, such as a sandy ground; - an attaching member which is arranged on the housing and to which the valuables are attachable directly or indirectly, for instance via a bag in which they are received; - a light sensor which during use in the situation where the pointed outer end is inserted into the ground is at least largely closed off to ambient light by the ground; and - a control unit which is connected to a power source and which is configured to activate at least an acoustic alarm in an activated state of the security device as soon as the light sensor is exposed to an increased amount of ambient light.

A security device according to claim 1, wherein the fastening member is a substantially flexible member, such as a cord or chain, which in use condition together with the housing forms a closed loop to which the valuables can be attached.

A security device according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the substantially flexible fastener comprises an electrical conductor which, in use, forms an electrical circuit which is monitored by the control unit, and wherein the control unit activates the acoustic alarm if this circuit is interrupted before the protection device is interrupted by the entry of a correct access code is disabled.

Security device according to one of the preceding claims, wherein the control unit activates the alarm from the security device as soon as a code is entered and deactivates as soon as the same code is entered again.
