Description
TECHNICAL FIELD The invention relates to a cord for an accessory. More particular the invention relates to a cord for a mobile phone.
BACKGROUND Cords for attaching a mobile telephone or other (fashion) accessories, such as handbags are known. The cord allows a user to wear the accessory over the shoulder or around the neck, thus preventing the accessory form falling or even from being stolen, while wearing. A disadvantage of the current art solutions is that attaching other items (i.e. fashion accessories) to the cord besides the accessory is either cumbersome, or the cord is not suitable for attaching such item i.e. too thick or inflexible.
DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION it is an object of the present invention to provide a cord for carrying an accessory, whereby the cord is suitable for easy attachment of other items. The object is realized by the following clauses.
1. A cord for carrying an accessory, said cord arranged for being attached to the accessory by a first attachment means, characterized in that, the cord comprises a second attachment means, arranged for attaching an additional item.
2. The cord according to clause 1, characterized in that the second attachment means comprises a ring-shaped element arranged for being attached to the cord.
3. The cord according to clause 2, characterized in that the ring-shaped element comprises a D-shaped ring, whereby the straight part of the ring is arranged for being attached to the cord.
4. The cord according to any one of the preceding clauses, characterized in that the second attachment means is arranged for being displaced along at least part of the cord.
5. The cord according to any one of the preceding clauses, characterized in that the second attachment means is arranged for being connected to the cord by a stitch.
6. The cord according to any one of the preceding clauses, characterized in that the accessory comprises a mobile phone cover, whereby the cover comprises one or more attachment means each provided with a through-hoie arranged for the cord to pass through.
7. The cord according to any one of the preceding clauses, characterized in that the accessory comprises any one of the group: - A purse or handbag; - A photo camera; - A pendant or charm; - Glasses or sunglasses .
8. The cord according to any one of the preceding clauses, characterized in that the cord further comprises a fastening device arranged for fastening two loose ends of the cord to each other.
9. The cord according to clause 7, characterized in that the fastening device comprises a ciasp arranged for adapting the circumference of the cord.
10. The cord according to clause 1, characterized in that the clasp is arranged for a first loose end to pass through the clasp in one direction and for a second loose end to pass through the ciasp in the opposite direction, thus enabling tightening of the cord by pulling the passed through ends of the cord in opposite direction.
11. The cord according to clause 9, characterized in that the clasp comprises an O- shaped ring with a bar connecting two diametrical points of the ring.
12. The cord according to clause 1, characterized in that the additional item comprises an accessory or another articie of daily use such as a set of keys.
13. The cord according to clause 1, characterized in that ends of the cord may be provided with attachable and detachable end pieces.
The figures show views of embodiments in accordance with the present invention. FIGURE 1 shows an example embodiment of the invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION The invention is now described by the following aspects and embodiments, with reference to figure 1.
FIGURE 1 shows an embodiment of the invention 100, with a cord 101 attached to an accessory. In the figure, by means of example a mobile phone cover is shown as a type of accessory. The phone cover may be arranged for covering the back of a mobile phone (not shown). Cover 200 is preferably designed or customized to fit a specific mobile phone, as there are many mobile phones on the market having different dimensions.
A phone may have a camera built in at the back, and for this purpose a through hole 201 is provided to let the light pass through to the camera unhindered when cover 200 is covering the back of the mobile phone.
Cover 200 is provided with loops 202, 203 for passing thorough cord 101. In this way, cord 101 may be used to carry a mobile phone held by cover 200. Attachment means 202,203, provided with through holes (hereafter referred to as "loops”) are preferably attached to the underside of cover 200 to allow the wearer of the mobile phone to move the mobile phone towards his/her face without getting the mobile phone entangled with cord 101. Loops 202,203 are preferably manufactured in one piece together with cover 200, thus forming a cover with integrated loops. The loops may be reinforced with metal rings at the inside.
The ends of cord 101 may be held together by using a clasp 300. By pulling free ends of cord 101 or end pieces 102,103, cord 101 is tightened, i.e. the circumference of the cord is decreased.
For attaching additional items, such as keys, or glasses, to cord 101, an additional attachment means 400 is provided, which may be attached to cord 101, or which may be integrated in cord 101. Preferably attachment means comprises a ring. The material of the ring may comprise metal, or a preferably durable plastic. The ring is preferably D-shaped, whereby the straight part is easily attached to cord 101, having maximum contact at one side of the ring. This allows for example to easily stitch the ring to cord 101, using a stitch 401, when it is desired that ring 400 is connected to cord 101 to sell cord and ring as one product, or for a user to attach ring 400 him or herself to cord 101. By providing a separate attachment means, i.e. a ring 400, it is easier to attached an item to cord 101. Cord 101 is preferably designed to be worn around the neck or shoulder of a user, and therefor may be rather thick, whereby a thickness of 7 mm is considered a minimum for being worn in a comfortable manner, without cutting in the user's skin. By having a rather thick cord, attaching delicate items such as glasses is rather difficult. Making knot from a thick cord is rather complicated and often not considered to be fashionable. The introduction of the invented ring 400, provides lots of possibilities to attach many types of items, such as accessories.
Because of the relative thickness of cord 101, loops 202,203 should be large enough to let the ends of cord 101 pass-through. Also clasp 300 should be large enough to let cord 101 to pass through, however, clasp 300 should preferably also prevent that loose ends of cord101 exit clasp 300, when cord 101 is worn around the neck. Slipping out of the clasp by even just one end of cord 101 would lead to disengaging of cord 101 and consequently losing the accessory. At the same time, it is desired to provide a configuration which prevents the ends of cord 101 to fray or tear, as these parts are handled quite often. Fraying may occur especially when cord 101 is made of a textile or a rope like material consisting of multiple fibers. Because of the above reasons, it is a preferred solution to cover the ends of cord 101 by protective end pieces 102,103, whereby, for preventing disengagement of cord 101, end pieces 102,103 are preferably designed to be thicker than the opening in clasp 300 through which the ends of the cord (without end pieces 102,103 attached) are passed-through.
This will prevent disengaging of cord 101 after the ends of cord 101 are passed-through clasp 300 and end pieces 102,103 are attached. To let the ends of cord 101 pass through the clasp, the present invention proposes to make end pieces 102,103 detachable and re-attachable, thus allowing to passing through of cord through clasp 300, and subsequently securing the ends of cord 101. In the case of tight through holes in loops 202,203, this also allows easy passing through of the cord ends of cord 101 through loops 202,203. A user may also want to change end pieces 102,103 to suit his/her own preferences with regard to shape, size and/or color, or fastening method of end pieces 102,103. Manners of connecting end pieces 102,103 comprise screwing
(whereby the inside of end pieces 102,103 are threaded), clamping, or hooking.
It should be noted that the above-mentioned embodiments illustrate rather than limit the invention, and that a person skilled in the art will be able to design many 5 alternative embodiments without departing from the scope of the appended claims.
In the claims, any reference signs placed between parentheses shall not be construed as limiting the claim.
Use of the verb "to comprise" and its conjugations does not exclude the presence of elements or steps other than those stated in a claim.
The term "and/or" includes any and all combinations of one or more of the associated listed items.
The article "a" or "an" preceding an element does not exclude the presence of a plurality of such elements.
The article "the" preceding an element does not exclude the presence of a plurality of such elements.
In the device claim enumerating several means, several of these means may be embodied by one and the same item of hardware.
The mere fact that certain measures are recited in mutually different dependent claims does not indicate that a combination of these measures cannot be used to advantage.
