Description
i Stackable lounger with storage space A lounger comprising a bed part, supported by a frame and being stackable with a corresponding lounger. The lounger is characterized by a compartment integral with the frame and being lockable by a lid or a compartment which is bingeable between an open and closed position. Part of the frame cooperates with means pushing the lid or compartment from the open towards the closed position while stacking said loungers. The invention provides a more convenient storage opportunity to secure valuable belongings when leaving those at the lounger situated in a public space.
Stackable loungers usually comprise no storage opportunities to secure valuable belongings. For example, the patent application published under no. EP1040777. Loungers which are not stackable and comprise storage opportunities can usually be separated from the lounger or consist of high-tech technology. For example the patent application published under no, WO 2007/085873 A1 or the patent published under US 12 8,789,884 BY respectively. In addition, an aftachable storage opportunity to secure valuable belongings that is published is for example US 2017/0254137 A1, The invention has for its object to provide a more convenient storage opportunity to secure valuable belongings without compromising the stackability of a lounger. The simpler construction is in addition more fit for the circumstances that such a lounger is likely to face.
According to the invention, this object is achieved, in a lounger that comprises a frame, by integrating a robust lockable compartment preferably in the armrest of the lounger or at one of the ends of the lounger under the seat member or adjustable back and characterized by a compartment being lockable by a lid which is hingeable between an open and closed position and a part of the frame which cooperates with means pushing the lid from the open towards the closed position while stacking said loungers.
The lockable compartment is a compartment where valuable belongings like phones, tablets and keys can be secured when one leaves the lounger. This reduces the risk of theft of these belongings.
The lockable compartment is ideally but not constraint fo an integration in the frame. The location of the lockable compartment is preferably in the armrest or at one of the ends of the lounger under the seat member or adjustable back.
The lid of the compartment is attached to the frame with a hinge, which provides the possibility to open and close the compartment, Whenever the lid of the compartment closes, the securing eye in the frame overlaps with the gap in the lid which provides the opportunity to lock the compariment.
The lounger is preferably stackable since at night, loungers are typically stacked to secure them more easily for theft for example. in addition, to provide more comfort, the lounger may include an adjustable back and armrests. In some embodiments, legs to support the frame may be desirable, Adding a compartment to a frame results in a compartment which is vulnerable for damage or might lead to an unstable stack of loungers. In addition, the lid of the compartment is likely to break down when another lounger is placed upon this compartment and this lid is upright. Therefore, the compariment is integrated in the frame so the robustness of a compartment and stackability of a regular lounger remains. In addition, the frame is constructed in such a way that the iid of the lounger below will be pushed towards a closed position while stacking the loungers. This construction may iS consist a sloped structured botfom, a ridge or a spring within the hinge which fosters the closing of the lid rather than breaking it down when stacking.
The compartment provides not only safety of valuables against theft. The compartment may also provide safety against circumstances that a lounger typically faces. For example water, sand and sun heat, The lid of the compartment is designed in such a way, that water is drained when the lid is in a closed position. In addition, the lid repeals sand and sun heat, In addition, the lockable compariment may include draining means. These means would allow water, sand and other undesirable particles fo be separated from the valuable items that might be stored inside the compartment To obtain a robust compartment which can be comparatively easy, and expensively manufactured, substantially the compartment ís manufactured from synthetic resin, Many so-termed technical synthetic resins are suitable, for example, polypropylene.
The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to an embodiment which is shown in the drawings but to which the invention is by no means limited, In the drawings: Fig. 1 shows a preferred embodiment of the lounger with the lockable compartment in open state,
Fig. 2 shows an enlarged part of the compartment of the lounger described in Fig. 1 in open state, Fig. 3 shows an enlarged part of the compartment of the lounger described in Fig. 1 and 2 the compartiment in closed state, Fig. 4 shows on schematic way the cooperation in a preferred embodiment of two compartments while stacking the loungers.
Fig, 5 shows the lounger with a compartment integrated In the armrest and possible alternative locations of the compartment.
Fig. 8 shows another preferred embodiment of the lounger with a hinged 12 compartment rather than a lid which is in this embodiment part of frame, in the diagrammatic drawings corresponding parts have been given the same reference numbers as much as possible.
A preferred embodiment of the lounger 1 according to the invention is shown in Figs. 1 to 5. The lounger 1 has a main part comprising a seat member 2, a possibly adjustable back 6 and armrests 5, being integral with a frame 3, and possible legs 4. A compartment 7 is preferably integrated in the armrest § or at one of the ends 14 of the lounger under the seat member 2 or adjustable back 8, In this embodiment this place is in an armrest 5, bordering where the frame 3 is bent downwards to the legs 4, but can also be integrated at both ends of the lounger 1 (see Fig. 5). A lid 8 forms a part of the frame 3, is hinged to the frame at place 11 and is pivotable between an open and a closed position, closing the compartment 7 {see Figs. 2 lo 4}. Lid 8 contains a gap 10. Eye © is integrated in the frame 3. Gap 10 and eye 3 are positioned in such a way that they can conjoin (see Figs. 3 and 4}. In addition, gap 10 and eye 9 suffice a lock to fit in these openings 10, 8. The bottony 12 of a part of the frame 3 has a sloped structure, acting as a closing means for the lid 8 so that when the lid 8 is in an open position, the lid 8 will be pushed towards a stable closed position while stacking the loungers 1 (see Fig. 4). Aridge 15 or a spring 16 within the hinge 11 can also be used as a closing means for the same purpose, see Fig. 4 and Fig, 3 respectively.
Ridge 15 is positioned such (not shown), that the i stackability of the lounger 1 is not compromised, The bottom 12 of the part of the frame 3 preferably comprises the bottom of the compartment 7, The symbol F represents the force applied by a lounger that is stacked upon another lounger.
This force causes, in combination with the sloped bottom 12, ridge 15 or spring 18, that the lid B will be pushed fowards a stable closed position while stacking the loungers.
While closing of the lid 8 can occur by pushing the sloped bolton 12 to the lid 8 or by pushing the ridge 15 to the Bd 8, in a preferred embodiment ridge 15 taps to the lid 8 when stacking, activating spring 16, upon which the rest of the closing is facilitated by sloped bottom 12. Lid 8 overlaps with the frame 3 at a place near the edges of the compartment 7 when in closed position, This prevents waler, sand and other undesirable particles from entering the compartment 7 from above. In addition, lid 8 functions like a sunscreen for the valuable belongings within compartment 7 {see Fig. 3).
A preferred embodiment of compartment 7 within the frame 3 is shown in Fig, 2 and Fig. 4 where drainage means are integrated in the compartment 7. These drainage means consist of the sloped bottom 12 of the frame 3 and an opening 13 within this bottom {ses Fig. 4). This opening 13 is positioned and sized in such a way that it enables water, sand and other undesirable particles to leave the compartment 7 {see Fig. 4}. So the sloped bottom 12 of the frame 3 functions as both a closing means and a drainage means.
in this embodiment the frame 3 of lounger 1, including the compartment 7, may be entirely formed from synthetic resin and may be manufactured by infection molding. In the present example frame 3, and compartment 7, may comprise polypropylene, Seat 2 and the possible adjustable backrest 8 may comprise Textilenea.
An alternative embodiment of the lounger 1 {see Fig. §) comprises a compartment 7 integrated in the anmrest 5 or alternative locations like at one of the ends 14 of the lounger 1, for example under the seal member 2 or the adjustable backrest 6.
The lounger 1 may consist of miling means {not shown) such that the hinging movement of the lid 8 is limited to s certain open position. These limiting means include an abutment in the hinge 11 or a connecting arm. The connecting arm is positioned between the compartment 7 and lid 8 such that the lid 8 is only hingeable fo a certain degree which prevents braking or damaging the lid 8 when slacking loungers 1.
in an embodiment where a compartiment 17 is located at one of the ends 14 of the lounger 1, the compartment 17 is preferably hingeable connected fo the frame 3 rather than a lid 18 which is in this embodiment part of frame 3 (see Fig, 8). Spring means {not shown) are provided in this embodiment in the hinge 11 like the spring 16 in Fig.3, acting as closing means for closing the compartment 17 to a stable closed position while stacking the loungers 1. This closing means, by a preferable bi-stable spring 18, is activated when the compartment 17 makes contact with another lounger 1 while stacking.
in this embodiment, the connecting arm is positioned between the lid 8 and compartment 17 such that the compartment 17 is only hingeable to a certain degree which prevents braking or damaging the compartment 17 when stacking loungers 1.
Another alternative embodiment of the lounger 1 (not shown} comprises armrests S 5 which are elevated relative to the seal member 2 and one of the armrests 5 is provided with a tockable compartment 7 of the kind shown In the first embodiment.
The preferred lounger 1 Is valuable in public spaces like beaches or pools.
Although the invention described above to a certain specific degree, fl will be obvious that various modifications as {a shape or detail may be implemented without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
